About FitnessMats

What are FitnessMats made of?

All FitnessMats are made with our APT™ – Advanced Polyurethane Technology™. The core of APT is polyurethane – a premium standard for anti-fatigue mats. It is more expensive than other commonly used materials, but offers the best support and comfort and provides exceptional value over time. This gives the FitnessMat an extended life cycle, making them environmentally friendly. For additional information on our APT, visit the Benefits section of the WellnessMats.com website.

How do you clean and sanitize FitnessMats?

The FitnessMat is easily sanitized with any ordinary gym wipe or cleaner. All WellnessMats require little to no special care, so you can easily clean them with a towel or with mild soap and water.

What does anti-microbial mean?

Anti-microbial is a term given to an object that is capable of destroying or inhibiting the growth of disease-causing microorganisms. Other mats use additive anti-microbial liquid bases to coat their mats. Coated type mats tend to wear off over time and could cause the growth of bacteria. FitnessMats are 99.3% anti-microbial – by design…inherent in our material formulation. No additives are necessary.

How do you justify the cost of a FitnessMat?

FitnessMats are made of 100% polyurethane, which is a petroleum based product. They are also a molded one-piece construction mat, so the costs of producing them are much higher than less expensive multi-layered glued together mats. Our “Best In Class” FitnessMats come with a comprehensive 7-year performance warranty, offering value over a minimum 7 year life expectancy.

Can I hang FitnessMats up?

Yes, we can create hanging holes in a 4’ FitnessMat to match your current hanging system, or we offer wall-mounted brackets for sale. Due to the APT ™ construction of the FitnessMats, no metal grommet or plastic insert is needed, and the FitnessMats will hang without tearing.

MobileMats can easily be hung from their built-in carrying handles. Please contact us for details on ordering a hanging system.

Where can we use FitnessMats in our location?

Common areas where FitnessMats are beneficial include stretching areas, group fitness, free weights, Barre Classes, yoga/Pilates, Ab/Floor exercise, Advanced Exercises, Amenity areas, and home fitness. You can use a FitnessMat anywhere you need comfort and support in your workout!

Should we get the 4', 5' or 6' size?

All FitnessMats provides the same comfort and support that is beneficial to a workout. Commonly, clubs utilize the 6’ FitnessMat in stretching areas or for yoga and Pilates, while the 4’ and 5’ FitnessMats are ideal for group exercise and home fitness. However, any size FitnessMat is beneficial to every fitness experience, and truly depends on what clients are used to. There is no wrong choice!

How much do FitnessMats weigh?

A 4’ FitnessMat weighs 10 lbs and a 6’ FitnessMat weighs 15.5 lbs while the 5’ MobileMat is approximately 9 lbs. This helps to keep the mats in place during its use in exercise routines.

Are FitnessMats environmentally friendly?

Our mats have a greater life expectancy, keeping FitnessMats out of the landfills thus contributing to a greener environment. After its minimum 7-year life expectancy, FitnessMats can be recycled.

Are FitnessMats safe and non-toxic?

Yes. FitnessMats polyurethane does not contain PVCs or BPAs and has been rigorously tested and proven to be safe. FitnessMats are also Latex free.

Where are the FitnessMats made?

All FitnessMats are 100% Made in U.S.A. outside St. Louis, Missouri.

Do FitnessMats have an odor?

The polyurethane construction of WellnessMats will not produce “off -gassing”, unlike rubber, vinyl and/or biodegradable foam mats.

What is the return policy for FitnessMats?

Start by contacting our FitnessMats Customer Service at 1-800-981-4979 to request a Return Authorization (RA) number. If the return is a warranty related issue, a defective mat or is the wrong size or color, a UPS call tag will be issued to pick up the mat. If the return is the customer’s choice or the customer does not like the color, the customer is responsible for the shipping costs associated with the return and a 20% restocking fee may apply. If the mat is being exchanged, the replacement mat will be sent after the returned mat is in-house. If the mat is being returned for credit, then a credit will be issued after the mat is returned.

If you have further questions, please email us and a customer service representative will be happy to assist you.

When returning or exchanging my FitnessMat, how do I roll my mat and pack it back up?

FitnessMats can be stored flat or rolled. If you have to roll your FitnessMat, turn your mat over with the top side down; roll mat and place in the original box. Rolling the mats incorrectly will cause damage to the mat and could forfeit your warranty.

Will FitnessMats stain my floor?

The bottoms of FitnessMats are free of paints and coatings that cause staining; our unique proprietary engineering allows the color pigment to be directly injected into the polyurethane. Company research has found that some types of flooring, and Linoleum in particular, may be made from raw, sometimes inexpensive materials including linseed oil. This type of flooring and floors sealed with a non-urethane based sealer may have a tendency to cause slight discoloring when covered. Although very rare, a few cases are known where linseed oil or the adhesives used to seal floors have an oxidation effect due to lack of UV light over time. This adverse effect could happen with any type of floor covering. If you have any concerns about the chance of any discoloration or material reaction, it is our recommendation that you contact your floor installer to learn more about your finish. If you have further questions, please email us and a FitnessMats customer service representative will be happy to assist you.
