Get Ready For ALL PINK Everything!
It’s a GIRL!!!
Let me first start off by saying that I LOVE my boys! When I got pregnant with my first, I really wanted a boy! In fact, I was really nervous about having a girl. I was raised by my dad, I grew up babysitting only boys (just by coincidence), I was a nanny while in college to a (you guessed it) boy! I mean the list goes on! I honestly didn’t know what to do if I had a girl; I had been around boys my whole life. When I quickly got pregnant again with my second, I was open to having a boy or a girl. When I found out it was a boy I was excited about my oldest having a little brother so close in age (they are 14 months apart). Those two sweet boys were going to be it for me, but life took a dramatic turn; I was divorced just three short years later.
I got remarried last year and wanted to start a expanding our family some more. Losing my mom to a brain aneurysm when I was only 8 years old has left a part of me slightly empty. As soon as I found out I was pregnant with #3 I immediately started longing for a baby girl. Our doctor had us skip the early genetic testing that is done at your 12 weeks appointment, so we decided to wait for the gender to show up on the 20-week ultrasound. As if that wasn’t long enough to wait, we had requested that our ultrasound tech tell our family what we were having so that we could wait and find out with our boys in a gender reveal photoshoot (shown below). It was important to us to find out what we were having with our boys and make it a special family event.
So, 5 days after our 20 week ultrasound, we scheduled a photo shoot with Lilly’s Photography by Liliana Serna and had a cake made by Thoughtful Cakes, both located in Houston, TX. My sister-in-law told the cake maker what we were having so that she could make the inside either pink or blue for us. We set up a picnic, just us and the boys and when we got settled we all took a deep breath in and I cut open the cake…
”Is that pink? Pink? Where is the blue? Omg, its PINK! It’s a GIRL! I’ve got my girlllll!!” That was exactly the thoughts that went through my head (in order) as I busted into tears. I’m so happy that we did the photo shoot because it truly captures our excitement and joy. I highly recommend doing a gender reveal because it makes for such a special moment to store in your life memories. We will always remember how special this was and I’m happy we have the photos to show our little girl when she gets older.
